Focus: Quote configuration, pricing governance, order management, renewals
Objectives
Enable record type-specific field visibility and validation for diverse quote scenarios
Enforce pricing and discount governance without blocking legitimate admin overrides
Build role-based order management workflows with granular field-level access
Automate renewal quote handling by subtype to reduce manual data errors

Customer
The client is a global enterprise software and technology provider with a complex, multi-region sales model spanning standard sales, no-charge quoting, and subscription renewals.
As the organization scaled, its sales team needed a Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ) system that could enforce pricing governance and role-specific workflows without slowing down deal velocity.
02 / 07
Business Challenge
The client's enterprise sales model required quote, order, and contract handling that standard CPQ configuration couldn't support out of the box:
01
Different Quote Types, One Layout — No Charge Quotes (NCQ) needed different field visibility than Standard Quotes, but standard Field-Level Security applied uniformly across all record types.
02
Post-Approval Field Edits — Sales users could still modify approval status, discount, and override-price fields after submission, breaking audit trails and approval workflows.
03
Order Management Access Gaps — Order Management teams needed editable Bill To Contact fields, while Sales users needed the same fields read-only for reference.
04
Uncontrolled Quote Line Editor Access — Inside Sales and Sales Executive roles could access the Quote Line Editor inappropriately, causing configuration errors.
05
Renewal Subtype Inconsistency — Bridge and ESP renewal subtypes needed different "Created By" field visibility than standard renewals.
03 / 07
Solution
MoreYeahs implemented Salesforce CPQ Advanced with a multi-layered security and visibility model — combining Field-Level Security, validation rules, and Lightning Dynamic Forms component visibility — rather than relying on any single mechanism to solve every scenario.
Record Type-Specific Layouts — Custom Lightning Record Pages (NCQ, Standard, and Renewal Bridge/ESP layouts) that dynamically show or hide sections based on record type, subtype, and user profile.
Post-Submission Field Locking — A validation rule detecting field changes on approval-status, discount, and override-price fields after a quote enters "Approved" or "Pending" status, with admin override preserved.
Role-Based Order Fields — Four new Bill To Contact fields on the Order object, rendered editable or read-only via Permission Set Group membership rather than duplicating user profiles.
Restricted Quote Line Editor Flow — An Aura-to-LWC-to-Screen-Flow chain that validates user profile before allowing Quote Line Editor access, working around a platform limitation where edit-button overrides only support Aura components.

Implementation
The rollout moved through SIT, UAT, and Production environments using Agile, sprint-based delivery with Git-based version control and a pull-request workflow.
CPQ Enablement — Activated Advanced Approvals, Contract Lifecycle Management, and Quote automation, plus Price and Product Rules for the APAC region.
Quote Customization — Built record type-specific Lightning Record Pages with Dynamic Forms and component-visibility filters.
Field Security — Configured Field-Level Security on sensitive fields alongside the post-submission locking validation rule.
Order Management — Delivered the four custom Bill To Contact fields and a dedicated Order Management Lightning page.
Testing & UAT — Validated field visibility and access rules across every profile, record type, and quote-status combination with the Sales and Order Management teams before go-live.

Technology
Built entirely on Salesforce Sales Cloud with CPQ, using declarative and low-code tools wherever possible to keep the solution maintainable.
Platform — Salesforce Sales Cloud with CPQ Advanced, Lightning Experience with Dynamic Forms, across SIT/UAT/Production/Scratch Org environments.Development — Lightning Web Components, Aura Components, Screen Flows, Validation Rules, and Permission Set Groups.Tooling — Salesforce DX (SFDX CLI), Visual Studio Code, Salesforce Inspector, and a Git/PR-based deployment workflow.

Results
The implementation delivered a production-ready CPQ system with zero disruption to ongoing sales operations.
5
major features delivered across multiple sprints, with 12+ custom components (Lightning pages, validation rules, LWC, Aura, and flows).
100%
deployment success rate across SIT, UAT, and Production, with zero production incidents.
Eliminated roughly 90% of quote configuration errors previously caused by unauthorized Quote Line Editor access.
Reduced approval-process field-edit errors to zero by combining Field-Level Security with status-conditional validation rules.
4
user profiles configured with granular, role-appropriate access controls.

Business Impact
Beyond the immediate rollout, the engagement gave the client a CPQ foundation built to extend as the business grows.
01
Improved Data Accuracy — Validation rules and field-level security cut down quote and order processing errors.
02
Audit-Ready Compliance — Locked post-approval fields and a Permission Set Group access model give the organization a clear, auditable trail.
03
Extensible Architecture — The record-type and subtype-driven layout approach makes it straightforward to add new business units, approval workflows, or regional pricing rules.
04
Faster Quote Cycles — Automated validation and approval routing reduced manual back-and-forth in the quote-to-order process.
